2026 New Initiatives

We are initiating three new programs that will occur early in the rehearsal season and can be repeated in future years.

  • We will perform two short concerts – one in collaboration with two local high schools, and one celebrating the 250th
anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. These are intended to raise community awareness and recruit new
    singers.
  • We will offer a set of skills seminars for members to improve their musicianship. These will be directed by LCCU member and choir director Dawn-Marie Conroy, and will be offered at a cost of $10 per session after the first session, which is presented free of charge (donations will be accepted).

Attendance at any/all sessions is optional.

Preparations for and commencement of these activities will begin on April 19, so we request that all interested singers (non-LCCU members invited and welcome) register as soon as possible. There will be no charge for the first skills seminar or for either concert, but we need to get a head count for the concerts so we can prepare accordingly. These activities are optional and can be selected at will. For convenience, we plan to conduct rehearsals directly after the skills seminars, but the two sessions are not linked. Attendance at either alone or both together are equally welcome.

Rehearsals will commence on Monday May 18th. Rehearsals will occur each Monday evening from 7:00pm to 9:30pm in the Recital Room of Battell House on the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk – the venue and Main Office of the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. There will be no rehearsal on Monday May 25th (Memorial Day).

LCCU dues are $50.00 per year, discounted to $45.00 for multiple members of the same household. Dues are waived for all high school and undergraduate level students. Scholarships are available for college students and others in need; please do not hesitate to reach out to our Registrar with inquiries. Music acquisition costs are expected to be low but are not yet determined. Music will be provided at no cost to fees-waived and scholarship students.

Come raise your voice with us, rediscover the joys of choral singing, and help us bring this beautiful music to life. If you are already a part of our community, bring along a friend and let them experience the magic, too.
